The choice of welding apparatus.
When going to purchase a brand new welding machine, you should clearly represent the answers to a number of the following questions:
-In most cases, this manual tool will connect to the network of what power will be connected?
– with what mainly metal or group of metals will work will be done?
– What will be the estimated metal thickness?
– how long it will last work with the device?
– Will the device periodically be transported from place to place or will it always be within your home or enterprise?
If it is planned to purchase a welding machine for home use, then it should be single -phase, that is, to work from a conventional outlet in 220V. But there are devices that allow you to work both from 220V and from 380V – such devices are called universal and are mainly used by professional welders.
For working with cast iron and non -ferrous metals, a direct current apparatus is suitable. If the moisture of the seam is most important, then for these purposes the semiautomatic device is best suited. But when working with simple ferrous metal, you can use the usual transformer.
Working with metal, it should be understood that the thicker it will be, the higher the power and current strength should be. But it is impossible to choose a welding machine, focusing only on the thickness of the metal, since this indicator is quite subjective: it is necessary to take into account the quality of the metal and the position in which welding will be made and the shape of the edge. Therefore, it will be easier to purchase an apparatus with the adjustment of the current strength, and then smoothly set the indicator in which the stable work of the arc will be observed.
You should clearly know whether the device will work 1 hour a day or a few hours without rest. The longer the work of this technique lasts in time, the more significant the power supply of the device should be. With the same loads, the advantage will have an apparatus with a copper winding than with aluminum, because for copper, the heating speed will be much less.
And, of course, you should take into account the weight and size of the device and adjust them to your specific case. But here it is unlikely that anyone will give advice, since only the owner of the tool can certainly know whether he will carry him from home to the country or to the garage, or the welding machine will be constantly in one place. Depending on this, the most acceptable weight, the size of the device proportions of the device is already selected.
