Sometimes, when redevelopment of the interior, it becomes necessary to lay “extra” window openings and get deaf walls. It is easy to do this, but it is important to choose the right material and observe some conditions. Which is better to use?
Description of the article:
Brick – universal material for laying openings in the internal walls and partitions, in this case you do not need to worry about the thermal conductivity of the structure. If you need to lay the opening in the outer wall, you need to take care of reliable thermal insulation. If the wall is brick, then it is best to lay the opening also with a brick in several rows, respectively, the wall thickness, then you can not worry that the masonry place will freeze – after all, the wall does not freeze.
Glass – and ceramic blocks
Instead of brick, you can use glass blocks or ceramic blocks. They not only protect against the cold (the thermal conductivity of brick is much higher), but also have good sound insulation. In a thin partition, you can build a concrete reinforced structure in the laid opening. There are modern building blocks made of microphorized ceramics with very high thermal insulation properties. In addition, the blocks can be made yourself from a material called Sibit, which is easily sawn by a hacksaw. You can cut out blocks of the desired size and save yourself from difficulties with brickwork. If the seams are made of a solution on a white cement, they will be practically not visible.
Insulation of brickwork
If you still prefer brickwork and doubt its thermal insulation properties, then lay between the bricks (as well as on the outside) a heater with a thickness of 15 cm, for example, polystyrene. For the strength and reliability of the masonry, it is necessary to lay the reinforcement from steel rods or thick wire around the perimeter of the window at the joints of all bricks. The reinforcement must be added in every brick row. Make sure that the rods do not stick out anywhere. The surface of the laid opening should subsequently be plastered, which additionally fixes the masonry.
When installing a reinforced concrete partition, formwork from the boards is used. Having fixed the reinforcement, set the formwork and pour a concrete solution. The surface after solidification, removing the boards, is polished with light defects.
