Rocky or rocky walls, as a style, are based on copying the ruins of ancient fortresses, which are very common in some Western European countries. Undoubtedly, miniature beautiful plants having long lashes hanging cascades from cracks look original and attractive. Such compositions are extremely rare in pure form, most often they are used to create raised flower beds with a variety of forms. Very often, this technique is an important component with the aim of aligning the site on which terraced slopes are formed.
It happens that this technique is used and, as an element of rockeries, for the correct placement of plants that hang, such as, for example, outlets or ampel bells, etc. Often on vertical walls are heather and stunted junipers, dwarf pines or spruce, which are characterized by slow growth. When designing walls, the height of which is no more than half a meter, performing the foundation laying, it is quite possible to limit ourselves to digging flat powerful blocks, since then the entire wall will be laid out on them. But with a high height, it will require the creation of a gravel or concrete pillow.
Mortar
When performing a layout, dry masonry is used without the use of a lime solution. This makes it possible to perform voids intended for the root system of future inhabitants to develop normally. The nutritious soil, which is lined before the styling of each tier is used as a binder and sealing element. After that, seedlings are planted in the formed pockets, and larger specimens are planted already when the wall laying out is performed.
Sustainable blocks
In order for flat blocks to be more stable, they are installed so that their narrower part can meet the very middle of the composition, while performing a certain slope to the base. Plants in such compositions do not require special care.
In the case of their too slow growth or a decline in abundance of their flowering, top dressing should be performed, pouring from the watering can on masonry with a weak solution of mineral fertilizers. As a building material for terraces and retaining walls, experts recommend using a tree. This material is subjected to special processing, which slows down the process of decaying wood.
